Zens Art: A New Era of Gallery Design

Robin Wang's Innovative Approach to Art Space and Commercial Function

The Zens Art gallery stands apart due to its unique use of light and shadow, which Wang believes are the best creators of artistic atmosphere. Despite advancements in technology, Wang emphasizes the irreplaceable value of the naked eye. The gallery's spotlights highlight specific areas, while the interplay of light and shadow on the ground creates a quiet, mysterious ambiance.

The design was realized through the specific irradiation angle of incandescent lamps. The desert yellow bright side and the flow lines in the backlight complement each other, simulating the natural scene of sunshine and desert in Casablanca. This 340-square-meter gallery breaks away from the traditional "white box concept" display mode, using vibrant colors and light and shadow to showcase the artwork.

The project, which started in April 2021 and was completed in July 2021 in Guangzhou, China, posed a significant challenge: how to combine art with commercial function. In an era where the Internet economy is at its peak, traditional commercial spaces are seeking innovative ways to attract consumers. Wang's design represents a breakthrough in this area, demonstrating that art spaces and commercial spaces can coexist and even enhance each other.

The design is characterized by a romantic winding curved wall, reminiscent of the desert color of Casablanca, Morocco. This element brings a new visual experience and challenge to the main color of the space. The building combines the essence of Mexico's visual heritage with the abstract forms of modernism, a concept inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragan.

Wang's design was recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
